The Glenmary Sisters were overwhelmed with the amount of items the Elementary K-3 Campus students brought for their Advent Missions Drive. They brought 2 cars, but we had to use another pick up truck and there still was barely enough room for all of the items. The children took the items outside. Sister Bernadette passed out stickers saying “I am a Missionary” to the students as they re-entered the building.
Ms. Calvin’s 3rd grade class and Ms. Flowers’ 1st grade class spent the morning together doing a cooperative activity. Students partnered to read “If you Give a Cat a Cupcake” and then they took AR Tests on the iPods. The students also wrote Haiku poems about cats and designed their own cat. The 3rd grade students were great mentors for the younger students. ‘If You Give a Cat a Cupcake’ on Prezi
For Red Ribbon Week, students celebrated with a hat day to put a ‘Cap on Drugs.’
The student’s in Mrs. Coomes’ class performed “surgical operations” on contractions. Thank you to Dr. Danzer’s and Dr. Shaver’s offices for providing the surgical masks. The children transformed the classroom into a surgical unit while making the contractions with band aids. They used band aids as apostrophes and put the contractions together. Surgical gloves and masks to keep the patients sterile. The children then became “surgical” doctors. They had fun while learning.
