Accelerated Reader (AR)

The Accelerated Reader (AR) program at Owensboro Catholic Elementary helps students with reading comprehension and is a fun way to learn. Students are expected to read books within their reading range and level, but are encouraged to challenge themselves as well. Even though our kindergarten students do not participate by taking AR tests, parents are asked to keep individual reading logs and help their children reach the reading goals.

To participate, a student needs to first be certain that a book qualifies, then read the book and finally take a test. Each book is worth a given number of  AR points, all of which will be awarded if all test questions are answered correctly. Missing test questions will result in fewer AR points being awarded though a minimum score of 80% is required to receive any points.

Be sure to check the Daviess County Public Library if you cannot find a book in the school library.
